La Touche Guilmet is a quiet, rural retreat with stunning views and extensive grounds in which to enjoy wildlife. Previously a traditional longerre - farmhouse. We bought it 5 years ago when the owners retired. We converted the barn area to the bedrooms and bathrooms, knocking through the partition walls in the original cottage to form the large kitchen-diner and living rooms. It now has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a modern kitchen-diner and a spacious lounge with antique log-burning stove.
Whilst it is a rural retreat the village of Segrie is less than a kilomteter down the hill with its church, charcuterie, coiffure and tabac.
There are garden chairs and a BBQ available as well as a couple of bicycles to use to explore the area, following the waymarked cycle routes.

Master bedroom
The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with bath & shower.
There are extensive countryside views through the double doors which open onto a deck area.
There are two further bedrooms (see pictures in the gallery) one with two single beds and one with a double futon. The futon is low but very comfortable.
Duvets and pillows are provided, all bedding is to be supplied by guests.
A variety of storage is provided, wardrobe for hanging and chests of drawers.
Electric heaters provide plenty of warmth during the colder months.
Living room
The spacious living room was part of the original 19th Century cottage which shows in the beamed ceiling and irregular walls.
A new wood floor, sofas, satellite TV, DVD and video players bring all the modern comforts.
Windows open out to wonderful views across the valley and down to the village. Lovely sunsets are frequent and provide a captivating spectacle.
For the cooler months there is electrical heating and an antique wood buring stove to keep everyone cosy.
Kitchen-diner
A modern kitchen in a country style affords all the facilities you need to convert the marvelous fresh local produce into tasty meals.
A large dining table can be used when its too cool or wet to eat outside, the usual place to dine here.
To help with the clearing up there is a dishwasher.
New hob and built-in fan oven are complimented by a microwave and electric slow-cooker. There is a fridge with freezer compartment - enough for freezer packs and some icecream.
A BBQ is available too.
Laundry
An automatic washing machine is available.
Drying can be done on the washing line outside or in the large barn (hanger).
In the area
The swimming lake and beach at Sille-le Guillaume is a short drive away as is the motor racing circuit of Le Mans.
The nearby A28 means that the Loire and the Loir valleys are within easy reach (1 hour) with their magnificent Chateaux and wineries.
Shopping is provided for with local markets in one or other of the nearby villages each day of the week; boutique shopping in Le Mans; Supermarket shopping in Beumont Sur Sarthe or Conlie (10 mins), Alencon (25 mins) and Le Mans (25 mins).
